What is BioThane®?
BioThane® is the brand name of all coated webbing products made by BioPlastics. It’s basically a polyester webbing with a TPU or PVC coating that makes it more durable, waterproof, easy to clean and weldable.

Why is BioThane® better than leather?
BioThane® is more durable, cleanable, stronger and easier to maintain. It is also readily available in different colors. Read more about BioThane® Straps vs Other Straps.

What coating class should I use?
The most common are Beta®, Gold and Granite™. Depending on your application, one of our 12 different coating classes is sure to fit your needs. Click on our Compare Coatings chart for assistance or contact us.

Does the coating add strength?
No. The tensile strength comes from the polyester webbing inside.

How strong is the webbing?
We have three different standard webbings that are commonly used. See BioThane® coated webbing. If there is a particular strength you need, give us a call to discuss.

What is the minimum order requirement to buy direct?
The minimum order is $500.  If the material is made to order there is a 1,000-foot run requirement.

Why don’t you stock more items?
In order to keep costs low for you, we only stock the most popular items.  We commit ourselves to an extremely lean in-house inventory while advocating purchases through our distributors.  Distributors keep inventory on popular and made-to-order items.  The prices are competitive and they don’t require the minimums we do.

Can BioThane® be purchased in less than 100-foot rolls?
Yes! You can contact a distributor and he/she will get you exactly what you need.  There is a small fee to cut the material down, but it’s more efficient for you to receive only what you require.

What is the difference between made-to-order (MTO) items and MTO specialty color?
There are price differences between a MTO item and a MTO item specialty color.

Can you buy a MTO item in a quantity less than 1,000 feet?
Yes, you can inquire about a 300-foot run which costs 1-1/2 times the 1,000-foot price.  This allows you to keep your inventory low while making the run cost efficient.

What is the lead time for MTO items?
Typically, the lead time is 4-6 weeks after receipt of order. If there is a specific date you require the material at your location, it’s always beneficial for you to share that information with us. We will do our best to exceed your expectations.

What forms of payment do you accept?
Payments may be made by check, money order or credit card. We accept Visa, Master Card and Discover Card.

How can I become distributor?
Once you have established your account with BioPlastics and would like to keep an inventory of products, you can discuss becoming a distributor with our Business Development Managers.  Distributors place orders each month on a production calendar schedule.  All distributors must go through our qualification process. If you are interested in becoming a distributor please contact one of our Business Development Managers.

Does synthetic hurt the animals?
Not any more than leather!

Do you know how to sew the material?
We have several customers and distributors that sew our material. Click for Sewing Tips. They are always more than happy to give advice and suggestions. We have our own fabrication department in house that can cut, weld and manufacture finished goods.

Why don’t you have the off-grade sale anymore?
We are keeping our inventory low to pass these savings onto you. If the material is off-grade we sell it on our eBay store.

How do I clean the belt?
Warm water and soap usually work well. You also can dab with a small amount of rubbing alcohol.

When will all items have black web?
Although we are working hard to implement the black web in more products all the time, not all products will be available in black web. You can always call to see if the item you’re looking for has it.

What is the safest way to heat Beta® webbing?
Each Beta® product order is accompanied by these safety guidelines.
